Labour Party Conference
Labour Party Conference
The Labour Party Conference is one of the UK's largest and most high-profile political events, attracting more than 20,000 delegates, exhibitors, media representatives and visitors to Liverpool's waterfront.
Hosted across the entire Liverpool Experience Campus, including the convention centre, exhibition centre, auditorium and M&S Bank Arena, the four-day event featured more than 500 fringe events, keynote speeches, exhibitions and networking opportunities.
As the first Labour Party Conference delivered under the Liverpool Experience Campus brand and the first in partnership with catering provider Levy, the event provided an opportunity to showcase how exceptional hospitality can support both event objectives and sustainability ambitions.
A shared commitment to sustainable event delivery
Working closely with Levy, sustainability was embedded throughout the catering operation, supporting the ambitions of both Liverpool Experience Campus and the Labour Party.
Delegates were offered a range of more sustainable menu choices designed to reduce environmental impact without compromising on quality or guest experience. One of the most significant changes was the introduction of wild venison in place of beef, delivering both environmental and nutritional benefits while maintaining a premium dining experience.
The approach demonstrated how large-scale events can make meaningful changes to their food and beverage offering while continuing to meet the expectations of organisers and delegates alike.
Celebrating British food and drink
During the conference, Compass Group UK & Ireland hosted a special reception alongside Love British Food and WineGB, bringing together representatives from across farming, hospitality, food production and public policy.
Guests enjoyed a menu inspired by the nations and regions of the UK, created by the culinary teams at Levy and Liverpool Experience Campus and paired with a selection of British wines. The reception celebrated the people and businesses behind the UK's food supply chain while highlighting the role that events can play in supporting local and national producers.
Creating opportunities through partnership
The conference also demonstrated the social value that large-scale events can deliver.
Through Levy's partnership with LFC Foundation, participants from a local employability programme gained hands-on experience working as part of the catering team supporting the reception.
Creating pathways into employment is a shared priority for Liverpool Experience Campus and Levy. Together, we are committed to widening access to opportunities, supporting social mobility and helping to build sustainable talent pipelines across the Liverpool City Region.
Events such as the Labour Party Conference provide a powerful platform to bring that commitment to life, giving local people valuable workplace experience and an introduction to careers within the events and hospitality industries.
