Delivering impact beyond the conference hall

One of the most rewarding aspects of hosting major conferences is the opportunity to create a positive impact that extends far beyond the event.
Recently, we worked with the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry (EAPD) ahead of their EAPD Congress to deliver Little Smiles for Everyone, a special legacy initiative held at Liverpool Central Library that transformed international expertise into a community-focused event for local families.
Developed through our legacy strategy, the sensory-friendly event demonstrated how business events can help address real community challenges. Held during Neurodiversity Celebration Week, the initiative brought together experts in paediatric dentistry, educators, charities, community organisations and local families to provide accessible, inclusive and engaging oral health education, with a particular focus on children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
More than 270 parents, carers and children attended and were invited to take part in a range of interactive activities designed to support learning through play in a calm, welcoming environment. These included hands-on toothbrushing demonstrations, healthy eating games, storytelling sessions, colouring activities and the popular "Dentist for the Day" experience, where children could explore dental equipment, examine teddy bears' teeth and become familiar with the dental environment. The activities helped reduce anxiety around dental visits while promoting positive oral health habits from an early age.
This project reflects our wider approach to event legacy. Through our dedicated legacy strategy, we're helping clients identify opportunities to create lasting impact as part of their event journey in Liverpool. The EAPD initiative is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when international associations, local partners and our network of Legacy Champions work together around a shared purpose.
We want to ensure the events we host create benefits not only for delegates and organisers, but for the city and communities around us.
